Established in 1995, Niagara Islamic School has been serving children of the Muslim community for 20 years. The school operates within the Islamic Centre of Niagara, nestled in a beautiful country setting just 5 minutes from Niagara Falls. NIS is a private school registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education.
In 1995 NIS began with a group of 5 kindergarten students in the St. Catharines Mosque. In 1996 we moved to the newly renovated Niagara Mosque, which had recently added a gymnasium and classrooms. From that point, the school registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education as a private school and added a subsequent grade each year. Since our inception we have enjoyed many grade 8 graduations, and we have our alumni in a variety of occupations, universities and colleges. We are very proud of our graduates who have all become productive, successful individuals.
NIS is currently home to over 100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8. Our students come from all over the Niagara Region, including Niagara Falls, Welland and St. Catharines. The school operates a 72 passenger bus route from St. Catharines with a variety of pick up points there.
